“I was a member of Apple FM in the late 1990’s (before it became FM107.5) but, like many people, ongoing work commitments cut short my involvement at the time. Then I retired at the start of 2016 and it was time to rejoin FM107.5 so I applied to be mentored in the studio equipment and to refresh my programme presenting knowledge.
“About a year ago, I was ready to present my first World Music programme in its slot on Thursdays between 9 and 10pm. Because I enjoy a range of music I decided on a world music format with its opportunity to present music in a variety of languages, diverse musical instruments, musical time signatures and tempos.
“With the exception of particular broadcasters such as the ABC, and of course, Community Radio stations, you will not hear the type of music I broadcast on commercial radio. Listeners of my programme will enjoy music from Europe, China, India, the Americas, plus blues and jazz.
“As an outlet, I have acquired some basic guitar skills. However, to get even greater enjoyment from my guitar playing I became a member of a quartet and due to my music lessons I can now read music as I spend time playing the bass guitar.”
